Lent in the Heart of Norfolk Group of churches

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, this year, 1st March. There is a service of Holy Communion with the Imposition of Ashes at Bawdeswell All Saints’ (7.30pm) - all are welcome as we begin our Lenten journey together, turning our faces towards the Cross of Good Friday and the glorious celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus at Easter.

Lent Course

This year, we are following the Diocesan Lent Course, “Praying Lent with the Saints”. Each week, we will focus on a particular individual or theme and explore what their experience has to offer us today. The sessions are Praying Lent with:

  • St Benedict;
  • St Teresa of Avila;
  • The Jesus Prayer;
  • St Ignatius of Loyola;
  • Praying Passiontide with Mary.

The course will be run at the following dates/times/venues (it would be helpful to know if you hope to come, for catering purposes):

Tuesdays: 2:30-4:00pm: 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th March; 4th April; 4 Church Lane, Bintree (Sheila Reynolds)

Wednesdays: Compline at 7pm at St Mary’s, North Elmham, followed by discussion group at 7:45pm: 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th March; 5th April. Venues TBA.

Thursdays: 4:30-6:00pm: 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th March; Stibbard Methodist Church and Centre.

Deanery Lent Services, Sundays 4pm

The Deanery Lent Services will echo the theme of prayer set by the Diocesan Lent Course. These are joyful occasions, where we come together as a Deanery, pray for one another and enjoy fellowship. The programme is:

5th March: Stibbard All Saints: St Benedict

12th March: Bawdeswell All Saints; The Jesus Prayer

19th March: Weston Longville  All Saints: ‘I don’t know how to pray’

2nd April (Passion Sunday):
